Özet
Bu tez çalışmasında, entelektüel ve entelektüelin işlevi, Edward Said şahsında, somutlaştırılarak incelenmeye çalışılmıştır. Bu çerçevede, öncelikle entelektüel kavramının anlamı, ortaya çıkışı ve tarihsel süreç içersinde hangi anlamlarda -hangi kavramlarla aynı anlamlarda- kullanıldığı analiz edilmiştir. Daha sonra belirli tiplerde var olan entelektüel kavramlaştırmaları ve entelektüel kavramının içinde hayat bulduğu kavramlarla ilişkisi değerlendirildikten sonra Türkiye toplumu özelinde entelektüel kavramının anlamı ve tarihsel süreci, ulema-münevver-aydın kavramları üzerinden açıklanmaya çalışılmıştır. Entelektüeli toplumun diğer fertlerinden ayıran özelliklerinden hareketle entelektüel analiz edilerek, entelektüelin işlevi; geleneksel, modern ve postmodern ayrımlar üzerinden açıklanmaya çalışılmıştır. Son olarak da, entelektüel imgesinin şahsında somutlaştığı Edward Said'in hayatı ve eserleri, -derinlikli olarak, Şarkiyatçılık ve Filistin sorunu ile ilgili fikirleri- incelenerek, Edward Said'in entelektüeli üzerine inşa ettiği kavramlar analiz edilmeye çalışılmıştır. This study has sought to analyze the function of the intellectual and intellectual solidifying, Edward Said personified by . In this context, primarily, the meaning of the concept of intellectual, the emergence and within the historical process of which meaning- concepts which are used in the same meaning-have been analyzed. Then, intellectual conceptualizations exist in certain types and after evaluation of their relationship with the concepts that intellectual concept found life in; the meaning and historical process of intellectual concept in Turkish society through scholar-intellectual concepts have been tried to be researched with this study. Analyzing the different features and merits of intellectual from the other individuals in society, function of the intellectual has been tried to analyze through traditional, modern and post-modern differences in this study. Finally, life and works of Edward Said who the image of the intellectual became a concrete in, in-depth, examining Orientalism and his ideas on the Palestinian issue, the concepts that he built on his own intellectual have been analyzed.
