Özet

Alain Robbe-Grillet is a practitioner of agricultural engineering, which leads him to travel a lot. This profession gives him the pleasure of observing the objects and people. He is regarded as both the master and the theorist of the formation the thought of The New Novel. Though the conventional novel gives importance to people, the new novel is accepted as the universe of the objects. Alain Robbe-Grillet's Jealousy allows us to see this distinct stage. The title of the novel has double meaning, which gives a feeling and an object at the same time. Indeed, the basic theme of this novel is the bitter situation of the husband-narrator who observes his wife's suspectable behaviours. Throughtout the story, he is not able to know whether his wife cheats him or not. But, the thing which constitutes the novelty of Jealousy is the style of narration of the writer. In this work, everything was told from the point of view of an envious husband-narrator who observed his wife. The writer gives us a conventional scheme consisting of a married women named A, a married man Franck who drops to visit her leaving his own wife Christiane at home alone. Though the narrator is never named throughout the book, we know that he exists by means of his anxieties and obsessions. The suspects of the jealous character justifies the choice of observed details, the form of the scenery.
