Tin-doped copper oxide (Sn:CuO) thin films produced by using the sol–gel drop-cast technique were examined and the effect
of Sn doping concentration on the optical properties and the energy band gap of Sn:CuO thin films synthesized on the glass
substrates using sol–gel method were investigated. The samples were characterized by X-ray diffraction, spectrophotometer,
scanning electron microscopy, and energy-dispersive X-ray analysis. The effect of Sn concentration on CuO structure has a
critical role to control the structural and optical properties of the thin films. The energy band gap of thin films trends downward
with increasing Sn concentration. The elemental analysis gives Sn ratio in the prepared thin films.
